    Georgia Sweet Tea Recipes

    Georgia Sweet Tea Recipes

As Southerners, there are lots of things we are proud of – our state flag, mama’s fried chicken recipe, our BBQ, the local football team. But there’s one thing every Southerner feels exceptionally passionate about Sweet Tea.

In 2003, as a joke, a Georgia state representative introduced a bill making it a misdemeanor for a restaurant that serves iced tea not to serve sweet tea. It didn’t end up passing, which is surprising, considering that in Georgia — and the rest of the South — sweet iced tea is likely consumed more often than water.

Everyone has their favorite way to brew sweet tea. It usually starts hot with tea bags (never loose tea though) added to boiling water. How long you leave the tea bags in to brew is a matter of debate. But, no matter how you make your sweet tea, it’s hard to imagine porch sessions, family reunions and church potlucks without it. Ya’ll know a pitcher of Southern sweet tea never lasts long in the fridge – but with this recipe, you'll be able to replenish the supply in no time. How? We pre-sweeten our specially blended tea, making it downright easy for y'all.
